I believe in saving photographs as a return ticket back to those moments.
Hello there! I’m Taraé, a Maine and New Hampshire based birth, family, and wedding photographer.
I’m a momma of five, married to my jr. high sweetheart. My favorite color is October when the north east turns shades of orange and gold. I love breakfast food at all times of the day, and am the happiest in our log cabin with a record on, having dance parties with the kiddos.
I live for moments of nostalgia. I love antiques, old books, and anything that feels like it has lived to tell a story.
Home for me is outdoors. I crave the smell of nature and the beauty of wide open spaces. Places where the earth is still authentically wild, which also happens to be my favorite spaces to photograph in.
My love for photo storytelling began after the birth of my first baby. I realized I wanted to create physical memories of her fleeting babyhood to have as keepsakes. So I picked up a used Nikon camera in 2010, and it’s become a love of mine ever since.
The birth of my second baby called me toward the world of birthwork. I became a doula and birth photographer in 2015 and I am now an apprenticing midwife. There’s nothing quite like witnessing a new life emerging into this world, and watching lovers become families, and women become mothers. To me there is nothing sweeter than mixing my love of birth, family, art, and the nostalgic pieces of our life stories through photography.
I think when we experience anything from those once in a lifetime moments like birth, weddings or just a snapshot of daily life, we’d all naturally love to remember those moments authentically as they were. Those pieces of our life story that we would love to have a return ticket back to. That’s why I do this work. I’m honored to be invited into intimate spaces to allow memories to be collected as they unfold naturally.
Photography has a special place in my life for this reason. For me, it’s form of art that allows us to be time encapsulators.
My style of photo storytelling is lifestyle photography, meaning very comfortable, laid back, not posey. I love true moments, genuine expressions, and raw emotions. It’s part of our authentic story, and I’d love to capture yours.
